PCCAN is involved in the community in many ways. Our campaigns and programs range from education and raising awareness to fundraising for causes that improve the lives of our local children.
It's up to everyone to prevent youth substance abuse
Through the generosity of the community and the support from Walmart, kids from identified families are able to receive Christmas gifts.
Every year since the early 2000’s, around 50 families are given a traditional Christmas through this program. (2019 was 66 families and 146 kids!) After gifts are purchased, caregivers have the ability to choose and wrap gifts for their kids.
Every July Phelps County Bank chairs Take a Stand, a child abuse prevention fundraiser across Phelps County.
Lemonade stands are set up throughout the community by local businesses, families, and agencies. T-shirts featuring the artwork of a local child are sold prior to the event.
In the past 25 years, a total of over $750,000 has been raised from this event. The funds raised from Take a Stand are given to local agencies providing child abuse prevention services.
Lemonade stands are back for 2022! The dates for this year's event are July 15th and 16th (Friday-Saturday).
The Healthy Baby and Beyond event is held every year since 2006, in an effort to decrease the number of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) in the county.
Different agencies in the state set up informational booths that help educate local families and pregnant women on child safety issues. The Rolla Fire and Rescue also offer free car seat checks and replace defective seats.
In addition to educational material, PCCAN, Missouri Care, and other donors team up to provide baby products, toys, and other essential items.
Each custom plate with the CTF design purchased in Phelps county contributes to PCCAN.
Annually, donations made to the Children’s Trust Fund through this program return to Phelps county to help create a healthier community for our kids.
When you get your custom plates, 100% of the $25/yr fee is given to PCCAN.
Our Task Force members are dedicated to building protective factors and reducing risk factors to prevent youth substance use and the many negative consequences associated with youth use.
Each member represents an organization who is eager to promote healthy and drug-free lifestyles for the youth in Phelps County.
The Task Force is responsible for a variety of initiatives, such as hosting town hall meetings, designing educational pieces for parents, and sponsoring a drug-free youth coalition.
Students from Rolla, Newburg, and St. James high schools have come together to create Invest Youth Coalition, a team of kids excited about promoting a healthy and drug free lifestyle for their peers.
Since 2006, PCCAN co-hosts miniature golf tournaments with Rolla Breakfast Kiwanis for child abuse awareness month (April). Kids are sponsored to play through local businesses or other donations.
This fundraising event is for Healthy Families and the Payer of Last Resort program.
A small grant was written by PCCAN to provide a Drug Take Back Box at Rolla Police Department. This project has collected and safely disposed of over 600 pounds of drugs in the last year!
Prevention Consultants helps with managing the Box.
