to increase public awareness and effective community action in the prevention of child abuse and neglect and the reduction of youth substance use.
Originally named the Phelps County Committee to Prevent Child Abuse, the grassroots organization began in 1993 when Margaret Miller and several other key community members came together to develop strategies to address concerns about child abuse and neglect. Through their passion, commitment and initial success in raising awareness and building an effective coalition of local professionals, the Phelps County Child Advocacy Network was born.
Since then, we have established a close partnership with Phelps County Bank, raising over $500,000 since 1995 through the annual Take A Stand Against Child Abuse fundraiser. During that time, we have provided support to many local agencies and individuals like you. Together, we continue to create a safer community for our kids.
With fundraising and generous donations, we are honored to provide car seats to families in need, aid in after-school mentoring programs, assist in programs for kids victim of sexual abuse, and other child-safety initiatives.
In addition, through grant funding, we have youth substance use prevention programs addressing:
PCCAN is entirely operated by volunteers. We are always eager for support and engagement from those who share our common goal: to raise healthier, happier kids in Phelps County.
